Ronda – One of the famous port in the Costa Del Sol : The Palomas Port, Grazalema’s Sierra

Today our ride will start with a guided tours in the famous city of Ronda (45 min in car from Marbella, 1h in car from Malaga).

Before starting our route we have to take in account that this route is arround 90 km, we will late arround 3h30 and 4h. We will climb 1560 meters. You can see the track on our site LINK.

To begin we take the direction of Sevilla and we will start going down. We stay on this road until a cross in a little bridge where we see an indication of Zahara de la Sierra. This small route is not frecuented by cars but the tarmac is totally new which we will apreciate it. On this part we will enjoy magnic views of the total climbing port. If you go with guided tour (who I recomend you) he will show you all the best point of views all arround this ride.

Arriving to the town of Zahara de la Sierra we will apreciate a view like you have on the following foto.

Guided tours in Ronda

Zahara de la Sierra – Ronda

Until now the route was quit flat. When we arrive to this point it left us arround 1 km of flat road before starting climbing.

Following we have some datas of the climb :

  • Total climb 13.60 km
  • Height gained 890 meters
  •  Medium Slope : 6.5%
  • Maximum Slope : 11%

After taking in account this datas, we start climbing, the begining could be the hardest when you go out of the town. You always have to follow the main road and no enter into the town. Do not hesitate to turn you head and enjoy the beautifull views of The Grazalema Sierra, Zahara de La Sierra and its lake.

Following the route we arrive to the top. You can appreciated the banner with the name of the port and its height (from the see). It is a good moment to have a rest and take fotos.

Puerto las Palomas

The hardest of the route is done. Now we will start going down to the Grazalema’s town. Do not go too fast en enjoy the views of the other side of the port.

After the descent, you will arrive to the mane place of the town where you have some restaurants and can have a drinks or eat something.

If you follow the track (LINK) you willl arrive to this fountain where the water is always cold until in summer.

As I told before I recommend to contract our guided tour service to show you all the best point of interest of our routes.

Now we take the road direction Ronda, it will be an up and down where it could be hard for the legs but when we turn left on a cross, we will apreciate a very beautyfull road between cork oak trees.

Before arriving to Ronda, we have to climb a little to the town, take it easy as it could feel a long climb as is the last one and we want to finish.

I hope you enjoy our guided tours in Ronda as for me is one of most beautifull ride we can do in our región (La Costa Del Sol – Ronda)
